I individually tailor interventions and work collaboratively to help navigate through the inevitable challenges of life we all face. Treatment combines empirically based approaches with humor, readings, and other techniques. We may incorporate  mindfulness and meditation practices. With all my patients I work within an anti-diet, body positivity framework.

My caseload includes teenagers and adults, male and female, with concerns about: body image, eating, depression, anxiety, sexual dysfunction, and/or other challenges. I am also a Certified Yoga Teacher with specialized training in yoga for treating eating disorders, sexual dysfunction, depression, trauma, and anxiety.

I believe that embodiment– feeling safe and comfortable in your own body – is key to self understanding, authenticity,  and to feeling good about yourself.

The mind and body are connected. To be healthy requires being in tune with both mind and body.  For this reason - and more - all  treatment I provide is through a Health At Every Size, Intuitive Eating, Anti-Diet framework.

Attunement (in clinical jargon it is called 'interoceptive awareness') can be challenging for lots of reasons.  It is the secret sauce, though, and I am passionate about helping people discover this for themselves.

Areas of specialty include eating, weight, and body image issues. Helping people resolve problems with their sexual functioning is my other specialty. I also work with people who have been through trauma, and/or those who are having general difficulties managing stress, relationships, or self-care.

An area of ongoing interest is called ‘positive psychology’, which refers to helping people become happier. There is actually a science of happiness! In positive psychology-based therapy, the emphasis is on strengthening qualities like resilience, optimism, and joy. The focus is on strengths and virtues, not on problems and deficits. Learning about this emerging field is fascinating and has an awesome real-world, everyday application.

Working with Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) is close to my heart. HSPs make up 15-20 percent of the population. The High Sensitivity (HS) trait comes with many challenges and cool opportunities.  I offer methods to assist HSPs with discovering the richness and 'superpowers' the trait offers, and teach practical skills for reappraising challenges.

My patients tell me they enjoy and appreciate my unique office setting, style, and psychotherapy approach.
